The 5th Grade Band Syllabus can be found above for parents to view at anytime they need to reference it.  

Important classroom expectations for 5th Grade Band & Choir:

• 5th Grade Band & Choir are mandatory classes for all ODCS 5th Grade students to take.

• It is the families responsibility to obtain a quality instrument for their son or daughter.

• All students must have the following items with them each time they enter the classroom:

1. Instrument - Students that come to class without their instruments will receive a 50% deduction from their daily participation grade for each day they come to class without their instrument.

2. Mouthpieces - Students will receive a 10% grade deduction from their daily participation grade if they come to class without their mouthpiece for class.

3. Woodwinds Specific - ligature & reeds - Students will receive a 10% grade deduction from their daily participation grade if they come to class without their ligature (5%) or reeds (5%) for class. 

4. Black 1" 3-Ring Binder - Students will use their binders to keep their Essential Elements books, pencils and all choir/concert music passed out in class in.

5. Pencil (Pens are not permitted for any music class) - Students will receive a 10% grade deduction from their daily participation grade if they come to class without their pencil for class.

6. Essential Elements Book 1 - 1st copy will be supplied by the school.  If your child loses this copy, it is the parents responsibility to find a replacement book in a timely manner.  Students arriving to class without their music will receive a 30% deduction from their daily participation grade in class.
